Imp paired with multi-card access cards like Maker's Eye, Nerve Agent, or Medium can be very effective, as you can force trash Scorched Earth before the Corporation can play it. Likewise, Decoy's are nifty in the case of tag emergency (like Weyland tagging via Posted Bounty), but I feel as though they wouldn't sacrifice PB for the tag unless they were to kill Decoy another way first. Account Siphon could perform similar crippling blows, but it does have an upper limit for how much it can drain.Ĭrash Space can be trashed in a pinch to prevent three meat damage, and it can serve double utility with making tag removal free. And so long as the Vamp isn't your last click as a runner, clearing the tag before ending your turn would be good housekeeping. Vamp, while it does give a tag, can be used to keep the Corporation's credit count cripplingly low, to the point where they wouldn't be able to afford double Scorched Earth attempts for several turns. Running a large amount of Link is certainly attractive, as it will force the corp to pay out even more for trace attempts (and with Underworld Contacts, you'll even make passive income). The better solution, I feel, comes in how the Runner wants to handle tag and bag defense when they're doing their deck design. And of course sometimes that is all the Runner needs. So I'm not really a subscriber to the idea that Plascrete is a be-all-end-all answer to Scorched Earth, but it will certainly slow the process down a little. As Plascrete only costs three credits to install and counts as Hardware, it's an easy and cheap target for them to fry before they get to blowing up your whole city block. As PGO is itself a Weyland card, any Weyland deck seriously attempting a tag and bag strategy should be running them. While Plascrete is a natural counter to Scorched Earth, as it prevents the same amount of damage that a single SE would do, it does itself have a counter in the form of Power Grid Overload.
